This time yesterday I was chilling in my apartment, looking out over the town and the airport - and tonight, I'm in a hotel, having (somehow, don't even ask) had my power disconnected!

So, Broome digs, take two:

Photo a Day Project, 2013: Day 20

Considering that I worked 'til midnight on Friday night, then all day and all night Saturday (and I mean all night, I was still at work at 5am this morning), I think achieving anything at all on my sleep-deprivation-recovery-day was quite impressive, particularly a James Bond themed manicure =P

If you're interested, you can check out the entire limited edition Bond OPI nail varnish series hereThis one is 'You Only Live Twice'. =)

Continuing the Bond-athon!

Made it through all the horribly corny Roger Moore ones, now it's time for some T-Dalt!

No photo of me today, because I've got my driving look on (read: bad hair, no make-up, dodgy mismatched outfit =P) - so instead you get a nice little mappity of where exactly I drove - in the worst weather we've had in ages!! Happy to arrive safely in my new home for three weeks, Albany =)

Back to work tomorrow!

Photo a Day Project, 2013: Day 2

Today, I hit the Unveiled: 200 Years of Wedding Glamour exhibition from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, at the Western Australian Museum! My Mum Jo, my Nan Lynne and I had high tea and then visited the exhibition, which was made up of all different wedding dresses from different eras.

Highlights would have to be seeing Dita Von Teese's stunning gown from her 2005 wedding to Marilyn Manson, and seeing Nan and Pop's wedding photos, as well as those of Pop's parents, featured in the exhibition =)

Much love,

Photo a Day Project: 2013

So I realised when looking through all my photos from last year that I had a pretty amazing (and very photographed) 12 months, and promptly decided that I was going to set out to have an equally awesome next 12. Sure, I won’t turn 21 again, and I don’t know that I’ll ever get another photo next to Matt Bomer or visit the Grand Canyon again, but I thought I might as well give 2013 a shot at being as photo-worthy as its predecessor. And so, it begins: the first photo of my 2013 Photo a Day Project, the ever glamorous mirror selfie. This one was taken at 1am this morning, when 2013 was but an hour old. I’m aiming for a photo of me and/or a photo of where I am or something I’m doing for every day of the year… how do you think I’ll go?

Wish me luck, good hair days (a good hair year?) and awesomely photogenic surrounds =)

Much love,
C xx

My Year in Entertainment

Doing this sort of post is bound to get you off-side with at least some people, being that everyone likes different things and has different expectations from the pretty faces that fill our film and telly screens, and the voices we are bombarded with on the radio everywhere from the car to the clubs.

But for what it’s worth, here’s some of my bests, worsts and somewhat forgettables of 2012!

Favourite Movie

I don’t even know where to begin with the list of reasons I loved this movie! But let’s give it a go.

Daniel Craig is, at the risk of upsetting people who disagree or who like the old, campy Bond movies of the 60s and 70s, the greatest James Bond ever. For a start, he’s smoking hot. His dry wit and wry smile are amazing. Plus, he actually looks tough, and capable of being a Double 0 - I mean, seriously; if you came up against him in a dark alley you’d be pretty convinced you were going to at very least lose your teeth and function of a limb or two, whereas, has anyone ever been scared of Sean “I promise I won't steal your shells” Connery?

Ben Whishaw as Q was adorable. I mean, properly adorable. The hair, the glasses, the freaking cardigan? A new generation of Quartermaster that I really hope will be back for the next film! This scene, hehe.

And of course, who could forget all those awesome little tributes to Bond films past, and the classics that it wouldn’t be a 007 movie without: the shaken martini (the slick subtlety of the reference was one of my favourite little details), the crazy car chase and Eve taking that bloody shot, a truly insane villain (that scene on the island with Bond tied to the chair was deliciously uncomfortable, no? Kudos, Bardem!), the amazing Judi Dench as M, the ultimate Bond Girl, and of course, the gorgeous Aston Martin DB5, complete with ejector seat and headlight guns ;)

I think it’s fair to say this was far and away my favourite film of the year. There are plenty more newly opened movies that I’m yet to see and I’m sure are fantastic, but this one gets my vote!

Movie That Wasn’t That Good But I Bought The DVD Anyway

For obvious reasons.

But mostly this one.

Enough said.

Songs of My Year

Party songs, indie pop for chilling, soaring soundtracks, and catchy pop tunes that have made up part of the soundtrack of my year…

King and Lionheart – Of Monsters and Men

Some Nights – Fun

Sunset in July – 311

Skyfall – Adele

Daybreak (GoPro HERO3 Edit) – OVERWERK

Call Me Maybe – Carly Rae Jepsen

Worst Song of the Year

Diamonds - Rihanna

Not even kidding. This song makes me consider stabbing myself in the ears with a fork to not have to hear it. As it is, I think I have come close to setting some motion speed records as my hand rockets to change the radio station when this steaming heap comes on. This one doesn’t warrant a link, just a diss. Ugh.

Best on TeeVee

White Collar

Of course! Like this one wasn’t going to make my list ;) I always find it hard to pick a favourite episode when it comes to this golden show, but Compromising Positions (4x07) was not only hilarious, but will hold a special place in my heart forever because it was the one being filmed while I was there!

Political Animals

This show was amazing! It was unlike anything else on television at the time, with a great cast of strong, unique characters. It also had an awesome theme song =) Plus, Sebastian Stan. Yum.

Homeland

Season one of Homeland was ridiculously good. It was easily the best drama I watched this year (yes, I was a little late to the party, marathoning the first season over one quiet weekend in Tom Price), and the second season started just as strongly. Things felt like they went off a bit a little later in the season, but Claire Danes and Damian Lewis are both brilliant, so I’m sure season three will have plenty more drama to offer, given the events of the S2 finale! Also, Quinn. =D

New Girl

Hahahaha. New Girl. Love it! Probably my favourite comedy show on telly right now, with an awesome bunch of characters – with Jess’s zaniness, Nick and his classic and hilarious glass-half-empty outlook, Winston with the cranberry in his ear, and the fabulously douche-y Schmidt, how could it not be mint?!

The New Normal

This show is adorable! Justin Bartha and Andrew Rannells, as David and Bryan, a gay couple looking to start a family with the help of a surrogate, are the cutest, and you can’t help but laugh at some of the shocking things that Nana (Ellen Barkin) says without batting an eyelid! And Bebe Wood is super-sweet as Shania, the daughter of David and Bryan’s surrogate Goldie. It is always nice to have some light new fun – and I for one cannot wait to see Matt Bomer make his sure-to-be hilarious guest appearance!

Most Disappointing Show

Revenge

It pains me to say this, since the first season of Revenge was amazing, but season two just has not done it for me in the slightest. I loathe Victoria, so the fact that she wasn't really dead (which was, admittedly, foreseeable) was a big disappointment to start the season with, haha! I do quite fancy Aiden, but other than that, there has been very little to write home about so far this season. Ashley has been getting far too much screen time for such a clueless twit, the fake Amanda Clarke is incredibly irritating, and the absence of the red marker and any real revenging of note, at least compared to season one standards, makes this one, sadly, the most disappointing series of late. Here's hoping when the show returns a lift is firmly on the revengenda!

So dears, what do you think? Agree? Disagree? Movies I need to see, shows I need to jump on the bandwagon of, songs that the absence of on my iPod is an offence? Let me know, and hey, maybe they'll make next year's list =)

Much love,
C xoxo

My Year in Review

Hey there 2013! It’s nice to see you – but be warned, 2012 is going to be one hell of an act to follow.

Looking back over the last 12 months, it is hard to believe what an amazing year it was for me. It would be fair to say 2012 was my best so far, given the changes I faced, the amazing experiences I was lucky enough to have, and the highs this year delivered that those to come will find hard to match!

So here we go, the highlights of my year…

Graduating from University

One of the proudest nights of my life! Four years of hard work (well, mostly hard work =P) paid off at last when I got to don my wizard robes and cross that stage, finally getting my hands on my radiography honours degree! They even put on fireworks for us =)

My 21st Birthday

You only turn 21 once, so you have to make it good, right?! My folks had to organise everything for me while I was away working, from the invites (purple, black, silver glitter and bows, could they have been any more me?) to the venue (which I saw for the first time on the night of the party) to the cake (a chocolate profiterole tower, just because I could =P), but everything worked out perfectly and I loved it! It was an awesome night with my friends and family that I will remember for a long time despite the many glasses of bubbles that fuelled the evening ;)

Touring America

Me and Mum at the Flatiron Building, NYC

Top of the Rock

Times Square

Visiting POTUS

The Lincoln Memorial, Washington DC

My month in America was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. From my week in New York, with its gorgeous world renowned landmarks and the equally gorgeous cast of White Collar, and our days with The Prez in Washington DC; to our tour of the West Coast, taking in natural wonders like the Grand Canyon, and the decidedly less natural but awesomely excessive Las Vegas, it was a crazy, non-stop run of opportunities to make life-long memories. I’m already planning the next trip! (quick jaunt over to NYC from London in May, anyone?)

cacti!

The Grand Canyon

Our Vegas hotel, the Paris

The Bellagio Atrium

Spreckels Temple of Music in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco

The Bay Bridge, San Francisco

Me with the Walk of Fame star of the object of my greatest loathing, Betty White

3/4 of the WCHBO crew at Bomer's Pink Motel!

The First Annual Bomer Day

One of the highest of highlights of the year was definitely The First Annual Bomer Day, May 14th! And the events of that day are definitely worth a yearly celebration. I posted about it at the time – you can read it if you click this linky – but basically, pictures are worth 1000 words, right? ;)

Timmy!

Moment of the Year..?

Work

I can’t imagine there would be many people who would put work on a list of their year’s highlights, but when you have a job like mine, it is impossible not to! Working as a reliever for the WA Country Health service has taken me to the beautiful far north of our state (Port Hedland and Tom Price in the Pilbara, and Broome in the Kimberley), the holiday-town south (Albany, in the Great Southern) and out east to the seemingly infamous fly-in, fly-out (or FIFO) mining town of Kalgoorlie (complete with brothels, skimpies, and the biggest open cut gold mine in the country). I’ve been told by a lot of people that I have a crazy job, and those people are right – it is absolutely mental, in the best possible way.

The little red stars are the stops on my crazy FIFO tour of my home state

The SuperPit, Kalgoorlie

Staircase to the Moon, Broome

One of the Kimberley's famous boab trees

Gantheaume Point Beach, Broome

Chilling in the donut in Northam =P

Port Hedland

Sunset over the Port

It has been a year full of unforgettable moments that have reminded me over and over of just how lucky I am. Here's to 2013 being just as fantastic for all of us!

Much love, and happy new year!
C xoxo
